Electricity
What is a circuit? A circuit is a circular path. Electricity flows from the power source through the wire to the bulb and back to the starting point. There are to types of circuits, a series and a parallel circuit.
There are four components to an electrical circuit:
battery
This is a power source. A battery symbol looks like a long line, a space, and a short line. ththisthis is t |
bulb
This has light energy. A bulb symbol loooks like a circle with an X in it. |
wire
This lets electricity flow through it. A wire looks like a straight line. |
switch
This allows electricity to flow through or stop. A switch symbol is a line that is slanted up. |
Series and Parallel Circuits
Conductors and Insulators
How is Electricity Transformed
Magnetism
Magnetism is when things that are made of iron or steel are attracted to each other. The ends of the magnets are called poles. The ends of the magnets are the strongest points.
Attract or Repel
Electromagnetism
Elecctromagnetism is when your battery is a power source, and you wrap a wire around an iron core. If you wrap it tight it will become a magnet. There are three ways to make it stronger: one way is to increase the power, another way is to wrap the iron core with more coils of wire, and the other way is to increase the size of the iron core.
